Citrix Content Collaboration: Citrix’s EFSS solution (formerly ShareFile)

Citrix Content Collaboration, historically better known as Citrix ShareFile, is an EFSS (Enterprise File Sync and Share) solution published by Citrix. After the Citrix / TIBCO split in early 2022 and the repositioning of the Citrix portfolio, ShareFile became a distinct brand with its own site and roadmap (sharefile.com). The product targets enterprise file sharing use cases: secure internal sharing between employees, external sharing with clients, suppliers or lawyers, large file sending that does not pass by email, project collaboration spaces, approval workflows and electronic signature (RightSignature), client portal for professional firms (accounting, legal, healthcare, real estate).

Technically, ShareFile provides a SaaS vault with storage at Citrix or storage at the organisation (on-premise StorageZones for organisations subject to data residency). The product integrates with Microsoft Outlook (email plugin), Microsoft 365 (access to ShareFile files from Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce, Slack, and provides mobile and desktop client applications. Governance covers folder-level permissions, share links with expiration, watermarking, DLP (Data Loss Prevention), access reports and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2). ShareFile competes directly with Microsoft OneDrive for Business / SharePoint, Box, Dropbox Business, Google Drive (Google Workspace) and with specialised EFSS solutions on the market.

ITTA does not currently offer a dedicated Citrix Content Collaboration / ShareFile course in the catalogue. The EFSS need in French-speaking Switzerland is widely addressed by the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, Teams) which constitutes the de facto standard in the majority of Microsoft-first organisations.
