The Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals certification is designed to help you validate your basic knowledge of key data concepts and how they are implemented using Azure data services.
It can be useful for strengthening your basic knowledge in preparation for other role-based Azure certifications, such as Azure Database Administrator Associate, Azure Data Engineer Associate, Data Analyst Associate, or Azure Developer Associate, without being a mandatory prerequisite for any of them. If you are new to the cloud or starting with Azure, the Azure fundamentals certification can be a good starting point.
If you are starting to work with data in the cloud, it is recommended to be familiar with relational and non-relational data concepts, as well as different types of data workloads such as transactional and analytical workloads.
It is recommended, although not mandatory, to take the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals – AZ-900 course before preparing for Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals role-based certifications.

Microsoft offers two recertification options to extend the expiration date of your certification by two years:
